For me, such a big age difference in those years isn’t acceptable - they are on two completely different levels of maturity and aspirations. And yet, even though I find that age difference too big, she doesn’t and it’s been a year since they started the relationship.
A study released in 2003 by the United Kingdom's Office for National Statistics concluded that the proportion of women in England and Wales marrying younger men rose from 15% to 26% between 19.There are also alternative social theories for age differences in relationships as well as suggested reasons for 'alternative' age-hypogamous relationships.Age-disparity relationships have been documented for most of recorded history and have been regarded with a wide range of attitudes dependant on sociocultural norms and legal systems. Relationships with age disparity of all kinds have been observed with both men and women as the older or younger partner.Large age differences can be overcome if people are at similar places in their lives. That said, when you are a teen and your partner is a full grown adult the chances that you are in similar places in your life are slim to none. You are of high school age and presumably still in high school. A lot happens in a decade and specifically, a lot happens in the decade right after high school.
