This is a private label Slingerland badge for the Lipskin Special Model.I understand that Slingerland did this "Private Label" for drum stores.and Tone Flange models, along with bass drums in various and pearl and sparkle finishes.The tone flange assembly consisted of a thin metal ring that was placed on flat wood screws in the top bearing edge.In the 60's Insurance companies made it mandatory that serial numbers be put on items so they can be documented.Unfortunately drum companies never really prescribed to any code of documenting a drum based on that serial number.
