When you try to log onto a wireless network, you may see this error message: “Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you onto the network xxxx”. Step 2 Double-click Network Connections in the new window.
This error is typically related to wireless network authentication and often appears because your Windows device is mistakenly searching for an 802.1x connection. Step 3 Right-click wireless network connection, then select Properties.
A Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the network name being broadcasted by your TP-Link wireless router.
If the Problem is caused by your laptop, please call the support of your laptop.
I checked my settings on the wireless router to make sure I didn’t accidentally setup certificate security, but found no such thing.
Also, since I was able to connect from my laptop with no problem, it led me to believe it was something wrong with my desktop.
If the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network box is checked, it will trigger the “unable to find a certificate to log you on to the network” message because Windows is looking for a certificate but your wireless router is not set up for certificate security.
When you connect to a wireless network, the settings and profile of that specific network is saved on your computer so that you won’t have to re-enter your network credentials, such as the wireless security key to connect the next time.
Try a different laptop to see whether it has the same problem.
