from scouring the net, this seems to be a big problem, but i've yet to be able to cure it for myself. attempted to run the Cumulative Update 13 ( for SQL Server 2008 R2, but when running the Update, and getting to the 'Select Features' part, it states that there are no SQL Server instances that can be updated. This not only stops me from being able to use intellisense, but the whole of SSMS hangs when using keyboard shortcuts such as 'ctrl ]' to step between syntax anyone else experienced this and managed to cure it some other way? This just a specific example of how the symptom manifests. I mean that whenever I expect Intellisense to appear, it doesn't always appear.I checked the obvious: Troubleshooting Intelli Sense (SQL Server Management Studio) reconfirmed what I already knew and didn't help. This is not a duplicate because while other forum posts list the above steps as "answers" they are not answers for me.(SSMS doesn't display any progress indicator or any info related to loading process of Intelli Sense) Thank you for your interest in this question. Our remote SQL Server was recently upgraded to 2014.
Intelli Sence feature reads internal metadata and list all of the available objects and its properties thereby helping Database Developers, DBAs effectively and quickly write TSQL scripts.
In SQL Server 2008, Microsoft had introduced Intelli Sence feature in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
As a Developer or as a DBA you may face issues with Intelli Sence feature not to be working or not displaying latest scheme changes when you are writing TSQL code within the Query Window of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
Also, sometimes intellisense is not helpful enough for auto-complete feature.
A simple solution for this problem is to refresh local cache by using Ctrl Shift R.
